About HOSPAC…

HOSPAC, composed of the state and federal political action committees of the Texas Hospital Association, is the voice for more than 340,000 health care professionals working in hospitals throughout the state.

Established in 1981, HOSPAC State supports candidates for state legislative positions and certain statewide offices. HOSPAC Federal was organized in 1996 to support Texas candidates for election to the U.S. Congress. The 33-member HOSPAC Board of Directors governs both PACs and includes health care leaders from hospitals and health systems across the state. HOSPAC makes endorsements and contributions to candidates for both state and federal offices only after careful deliberation by the HOSPAC Board. In making these decisions, the board considers many important factors, especially:

  • recommendations from hospital leaders and representatives in the candidate’s district;
  • the candidate’s knowledge, philosophy and position on health care issues, and willingness to consider input from local hospital constituencies; and
  • the demographics of the district.

What does HOSPAC do?

HOSPAC helps hospitals, their employees and the patients
they serve by:

  • sharing information about important political issues, the legislative
    process and candidates runing for office;
  • promoting the importance of political involvement and voting; and
  • endorsing and supporting those candidates who are best able to help create better health care policy.
