HOSPAC is composed of the state and federal political action committees of the Texas Hospital Association. The state HOSPAC was created in 1981; the federal HOSPAC was established in 1996. A 33-member board of directors, comprised of hospital and health care system leaders from across the state, governs HOSPAC. Today, as a unified organization, HOSPAC serves as the political voice for more than 369,000 health care professionals working in hospitals throughout Texas.

HOSPAC is an integral part of THA’s advocacy program. HOSPAC works to ensure hospital leaders interact with and educate elected officials. The HOSPAC Board of Directors endorses state and congressional elected officials, using feedback from THA member hospital leaders. HOSPAC raises funds from hospital employees and donates all the money to endorsed candidates. HOSPAC makes THA’s advocacy efforts more effective by building lasting relationships with lawmakers at both capitols.

HOSPAC accomplishes this by:

  • Supporting candidates who care about good health care policy;
  • Sharing information with members about candidates, as well as critical public-policy issues and processes; and
  • Promoting voting and other political participation among THA’s membership.

At the federal level, HOSPAC partners with the American Hospital Association to advocate for federal legislation that benefits Texas.

Why HOSPAC?

Delivering a consistent message and consolidating the financial resources of individual hospital advocates make HOSPAC a strong, effective voice for Texas hospitals.

Working with THA, HOSPAC contributes to success in the advocacy arena by building relationships, becoming involved in political campaigns and educating candidates, legislators and the public about priority issues for Texas hospitals.

Your membership supports candidates who, as elected officials, offer hospital leaders the opportunity to weigh-in on the issues and policies affecting Texas hospitals and the communities they serve.
